Lütfü Hanoğlu graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine. He became a neurologist at Bakırköy Psychiatric Hospital. In 1996, he established and managed the neuropsychology laboratory and behavioral neurology consultation outpatient clinic of Bakırköy Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases Hospital. He became the founding member and first general secretary of the Alzheimer’s Association of Turkey in 1997 and the Alzheimer’s Foundation in 2000. He participated in the establishment and activities of the Behavioral Neurology Scientific Working Group of the Turkish Neurological Society, which was established in the 2000s and still continues its activities.
In 2010, he became the founder and responsible of the Cognitive Neuroscience department of the Neuroscience Doctorate and Master’s Program of Istanbul Medipol University Health Sciences Institute. In 2012, he was appointed as the head of the Department of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine of Istanbul Medipol University. In the same period, he established the neuropsychology laboratory and memory clinic in the hospital. In 2014, he opened the “Neuromodulation Laboratory” and “Clinical Electrophysiology and Neuroimaging Laboratory” in IMU Mega University Hospital. In 2017, he established the Cognitive Rehabilitation Department affiliated to Istanbul Medipol University Health Sciences Institute and started the first multidisciplinary Master’s program in this field in Turkey. Since 2018, he has participated in the activities and establishments of the newly established “Neurorehabilitation” and “Neuromodulation” Working Groups of the Turkish Neurology Association.
He is still the head of the Department of Neurology at Istanbul Medipol University, and is responsible for the laboratories and polyclinics described above, and graduate programs.
Prof.Dr. Bahar Güntekin completed her Ph.D. in biophysics at Dokuz Eylül University in 2006. She worked as the vice director of Istanbul Kültür University Brain Dynamics Research Center between 2006-2016. She was appointed Professor of Biophysics in 2016 at Istanbul Medipol University School of Medicine. Her research area mainly focuses on analyzing cognitive functions using EEG-Event Related Brain Oscillations in healthy controls and patients with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. She is the chair of ISTAART Electrophysiology Professional Interest Area of Alzheimer’s Association and a board member of International Organization of Psychophysiology. She served as the advisory board member of Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Health Sciences Research Group between 2019-2022. She is an Editorial Board member of Scientific journals like Scientific Reports, International Journal of Psychophysiology, Aging Brain and others. She was awarded Outstanding Young Scientist by Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) in 2015, METU Parlar Foundation in 2016, and Roy John Award by the Electroencephalography and Clinical Neuroscience Society in 2023. Erol Yıldırım received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Istanbul University and he completed his master’s degree in Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience at the Institute of Neurological Sciences of the same university. He took his PhD degree at Istanbul University Institute of Forensic Medicine under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tamer Demiralp. In his master’s and doctoral studies, he examined the brain electrical activity associated with cognitive functioning with Event Related Brain Potentials analysis.
He is a faculty member of Istanbul Medipol University Department of Psychology and the founder-coordinator of fiNCAN Laboratory. His research focuses on the neural structure and processes of emotion and cognition and social cognition. He also conducts research on neuropsychological assessment in clinical groups and the effects of brain stimulation on cognition and brain activity.
